Real and mythical creatures leap off the pages of legends, tales and fables in Persian, Arabic, Turkish, and Urdu in a new family-friendly exhibition at the Aga Khan Museum.
Marvellous Creatures: Animals in Islamic Art is a richly imaginative exhibition that presents creatures of air, water, fire, and earth in a breathtaking variety of artworks from the 7th to 21st centuries. Featuring manuscripts, textiles, ceramics, jewelry, glass, and metalwork – in addition to sculptures and mixed media works by contemporary Lebanese artist Mohamed-Said Baalbaki – the exhibition proves the enduring fascination with these creatures across many cultures and shares the stories that first brought them to life. This exhibition ends September 11, 2016. More information and Tickets
